The 7-foot Zeller, a North Carolina recruit who led the state in scoring last season, was selected the top player in Indiana for 2008 in the annual voting conducted by The Indianapolis Star.
Zeller averaged 33.1 points a game for the season and scored a record 43 points in the 84-60 win over Fort Wayne Harding for the championship. He was named on 257 of the 345 ballots cast by media and coaches from across the state. Plymouth’s Randy Davis was a distant second with 22 votes and no one else received more than nine.
Zeller gave most of the credit to his teammates.
