The 6-foot-6, 210-pound power forward from Batesville High School in southern Indiana verbally committed to play for the Golden Flashes’ new head coach Sunday afternoon. He averaged 19 points and eight rebounds a game for Batesville High this season.
“I visited last week, my family and I talked about it Saturday night, and we decided Kent State was the best place for me,” said Grimsley. “This whole time, I wanted to go to the best program with the best coaching staff, and when I got to Kent, that all came together. I’m really excited.”
Grimsley chose Kent State over an offer from Central Michigan. Miami (Ohio), IUPUI, Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne and North Florida also showed interest, according to Rivals.com.
